British Columbia Provincial Nomination Program (BC PNP) invited 472 Express Entry and Skills Immigration candidates in a round of invites held on 17th October. The applicants are invited to apply for provincial nomination under its Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams.

This round of invitation marked the maximum number of invitations issued in this year up till now. The minimum cut-off point limits for different streams are:

  • For Express Entry British Columbia- Skilled Worker, the minimum score was 80 points
  • For Express Entry British Columbia- International Graduate, the minimum score was 90 points
  • For SI-Skilled Worker Stream, the minimum score was 81 points
  • For SI-International Graduate, the minimum score was 91 points
  • For SI-Entry level and semi-skilled, the minimum score was 80 points

This round of invitation has invited to those candidates who are having relatively high points as compared to the ones invited in the previous draw(s).

The draw which is period in nature, has observed British Columbia PNP issuing invitations to apply to the applicants at peak scores under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Every applicant’s profile has to be completed through SIRS which assigns a point score based on various personal credentials like age, educational factor, skilled work experience, language proficiency (English/ French) etc.

This British Columbia Provincial Nomination stream is an Express Entry aligned stream which runs on the line of federal government’s Express Entry program. The federal system manages the candidates through its three main economic immigration streams namely- The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), The Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP), and The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) each with a set of eligibility criteria.

All the candidates selected in this draw can now claim 600 additional CRS points towards overall Comprehensive Ranking System Score. This will further increase such candidates’ chances of selection in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

Note that all the applications under BC PNP Skill Immigration Stream are processed independently and not with the Express Entry System. One eligibility requirement for candidates getting invitation by BC PNP is that they are required to have a full-time & permanent job-offer letter from a British Columbian employer in one of the 29 occupations listed under BC PNP tech pilot stream.
